This weekend was an adventure to say the least! Fridays snow and wind made travel difficult and the ability to move around not much fun. The bite was pretty dead. Saturday morning came around and I knew moving around was going to be next to impossible with the 35mph winds and fresh snow. We set in on a waypoint and marked a bunch of fish with a few takers. As the clients fished in the Eskimo Ice Fishing Gear shacks, i jumped on the snowmobile and went into search mode checking some spots I fished earlier in the week. One spot had some other guys on it buy i still got some fish close so we decided to move and hunker down for a while. Definitely more fish and they were a little more active. I tried setting the Bite Me Box Tip Ups out but with the wind, it was a losing battle. the inside was staying warm but the snow was drifting around the box burying them. We caught some fish on them but eventually pulled them and stuck to jigging catching bass crappies a few perch and a couple of small eyes. On Sunday morning a few buddies were in the same spot we started on Saturday and the fish were on fire until the sun came out late morning and after that...notta! Just goes to show how these fronts screw with fish. Thinking i may try and move my shack tomorrow but well see how ambitious i feel with the cold.
