This weekend we have been testing the new Windows 10 Technical Preview - its free to download and install. While we did a complete backup of the target system, Im happy to say it was not necessary - Windows 10 installed on top of Windows 7 and kept all programs, settings, and apps. Nothing was lost. This is how it should be. So far the impression has been positive - it most certainly is a mesh of Windows 7 and 8 together - the Start menu is a combination of the live tiles/metro UI and the classic start menu. Looks like theyve tried very hard to fix the debacle that is Windows 8.
