This weekend we will release details/rules for the 2015 Project - TopicsExpress

This weekend we will release details/rules for the 2015 Project Backstage Midwest Music Awards. Some changes are coming such as: 1) We are reducing the number of awards to be presented. Some categories are not returning in 2015 such as Video of the Year. There will not be a significant decrease, but a reduction will happen. 2) The nomination period is open from January 5th through the 25th, which is the longest time period we have had. The one nomination ballot per person, per year rule still exists. 3) Qualifications to be eligible for awards in 2015 will be more stringent. There will be definitions of each category on the ballot, and anyone not eligible for that category will also have it listed on the ballot that they are not eligible (example: Chance the Arm can not repeat Artist of the Year in back to back years by rule). 4) The point system we use for awards will change. There will be more points awarded for winning the public voting, and the talent panel will increase from 5 people to 9 people, with each persons vote still being worth one point. More details on this later. This is just 4 examples of some changes that we will be making. This is the 5th time doing the Midwest Music Awards and we have learned a lot each year from the feedback people provide (yes, we listen and note everything told us), and seeing how the results run. While none of these changes are earth shattering, we will continue to tweak it each year to try and make it as fair as possible for all bands from every genre. There are NO bands in 2015 that are not eligible overall like we have had in the past due to conflicts. Good luck to everyone in the 2015 process and we hope to represent unsigned music in KC and the Midwest well.
