This whole discussion surrounding Zwarte Piet is ridiculous. If you really want to analyse Santa Claus and Zwarte Piet, then what do we have? An elderly, overweight, bearded guy wearing a camp red suite who likes to have young children sit on his lap and has little black helpers. Or in short: Dutch Santa Claus is a gay, fat, pedophile racist. But we all know he is not. Instead of getting rid of Zwarte Piet with this incredibly ignorant and narrow perspective, lets focus on putting the whole thing into its historical context and explain it accordingly to foreigners who need to understand this Dutch tradition.
