This whole thing is pure bullshit!! The EPA as usual has wasted hundreds of thousands of public dollars chasing a dead horse. With only 170,000 stoves sold annually at 4.5 grams per hour or less our industry does not touch one day of operating air force one for a round of golf. The damage from fracking and other fossil fuel exploitation is far worse in one day that all wood stoves combined for years if not decades. I personally believe there is a political agenda at play here which will be interesting when ( and if) cat stoves are exposed for their lack of ability to maintain their effectiveness over an extended period of time, at least that has been my experience as an industry professional for over 30 years now. I can honestly say that I have replace 8 cat units out of all of them that needed it, home owners are not interested in doing this anymore than changing their cars oil every 3 thousand miles. Therefore it is my contention that what our company is doing makes far more sense. Instead of digging up precious metals from all over the world with all the shipping and processing involved we chose to use physics rather than chemistry. Our Katydid stove is set for certification testing in September and I believe we will show the industry that you need not apply a cat when your stove is engineered to perform better without one. I also believe that the loss of jobs in this industry if certain people have their way is far more devastating to the environment as impoverished people are very hard on the environment. Unfortunately humans feel a need to over complicate everything they touch, the Prius is a great example. An expensive as hell car that cant touch the the performance nor the economy of a 1974 dodge colt 4 cyl naturally aspirated motor with a set of points and a four speed transmission.
