This will be my only post on my page today! See you Monday! We will remember them! Fallen No more the stress and strain of life, Shall show upon his brow, No more hard tabs with aching back, And sweat dripping from his prow. For in quiet repose and peacefulness To attention he is ordered. As on his God’s parade ground His final roll is ordered. Through woods of green and desert heat, Loyal service he has done. Yet at the turning of fates last breath, Dead eyes stare at the sun. His comrades, his men, his mates, or not, His family and his friends , Each now a million miles away, None can go where he has gone! Warrior? Hero? Father? Son? Husband? Lover? Soul mate? A life unknown to all but few, His final journey has begun. His wife, his kids, his Mum & Dad, The knock upon the door! The fearful news that serves to tell, Of lives changed, forever more! And why does he go through all this? For a politicians whim? For oil? For money? For future power? Or to help ascend a King? Or is it all for none of these, But for the man stood next to him? And he’d do it all again, again, If he had but life left in his limbs! So what are we to think of him, Who gave his life this way? Do we even spare a thought for him? Or those left in his wake? For myself I’m proud to tell, But for others I can not say, With thankful heart and tearful eye, A brave man passed this way!
