This will date me, but back in the 1970s there was a TV ad for Jack in the Box that became what is now known as a meme. It involved a little pitch man named Rodney. Rodney Allen Rippy. He delivered that full name and then said of the Jack in the Box burger: Its too big to eat. Like the Clara P Wheres The Beef ads a decade or more later for Burger King, the Rodney Alan Rippy ad became a real time marker. So yesterday I was at an event in Long Beach for a totally unrelated story and I hear a guy nearby introduce himself as Rodney Rippy. Yup. Here he is, looking happy and healthy....now selling TV advertising time. Still has a welcoming smile. But no burgers to sell..
