This years SF Bay Brazilian Day Festival & Lavagem 2014 brought me so much joy! I cant believe we did it!! The energy was so powerful and contagious, I may have not been able to walk the next day, but it was beyond worth it! And thanks to Aida Salazar taking over the reins, I was able to enjoy and dance for the first year since the event started! Id like to thank our stellar volunteers including Sarah Davis, Coileán OMurchú, Sandy Endo, & Julieta Zuniga on tickets-- Georgia Śaranya, Elisa Chaves (who doubled as our Maracatu Leaders!) Axel Beijers & Nadia Bailarina Velasquez on the bar, Ave Maria Hackett, Steve Sabaat Burkhardt Erika Wild Barbara Mascarenhas Matheus Aragao Joselito Assuncao and so many others... Special thanks to our vendor coordinator Mick Gardner (we had over 30 vendors this year!) Thank you to our volunteer stage manager Sonia D. Pina, and our wonderful DJs Miles Green and José A. Ruíz. Big thank you to Roberto Akuma and Robert Cruz for doing much of the heavy lifting. And a big big thanks to all the incredible artists who donated their time and talents to be there, most for reduced or non existent pay checks: Wag DoGroove, Harvey Wainapel, Dandara Odara, Dandha Da Hora, Amanda Santiago, Spok, Anne Stafford and the all the Sambada crew, Slleyk da Bahia, Ashlee George, Julio Remelexo, Ian Faquini & Rebecca Kleinmann (who have a new record you guys should check out!) and many more! And last but not least, Thank You to all those who supported us and donated to our indiegogo campaign-- you guys are the ones who made this years event possible on our miniscule budget!! Till next year folks!!
