This years official Christmas miracle - Once a year I take my grandmothers tea set out of the upper cupboard and use it to serve Christmas breakfast to my family. Im sure it was a very average tea set when she bought it (in the 1950s? 40s? 30s?) but whenever I see it, it brings back memories of visiting Grandma and Grandpa. Grandma would make tea in it and in honour of the special occasion (me visiting) they would serve fancy bread (raisin bread) buttered with real butter (not margarine) along with strong tea. This year, as we took the tea set out of the top cupboard, in the transition from Graces hands to mine, we dropped the sugar bowl and watched in horror as it fell to the concrete floor. And then the miracle happened. It bounced. Never in the history of living here has anything bounced. Everything Ive ever dropped has shattered into a million pieces. The sugar bowl was dropped from a height of about 5 ft and it bounced. Its a miracle.
