Thomas: Dont want to get involved in too much of a discussion on the matter,but you cite two pseudoepigraphica (forged writings) and one remote inference that says nothing about Toll Houses or anything connected with the concept. Does it not occur to you that Toll House advocates have to scrape the bottom of every barrel, employ obtuse references that say nothing of what you want them to say and fake writings that are well known to patrologists as being fake, in order to support this fantasy? Does it never occur that if there was such a teaching in connection with the soul after death, it would dominate the Funeral and Memorial services, but that it is not even so much as hinted at them? Where would it be except in those very services which are connected with the newly deceased? A doctrine like that would be prominent in the writings of the holy father, not just in fake documents forged by Gnostics, and it would dominate the memorial services: by neither the holy fathers nor the memorial or funeral service even hint at such a teaching. How, then, could anyone surmise that the Toll Houses are a teaching of the Church?
