Those responsible for this probably meant no harm but still, its a horrible piece of anti-German nastiness - the idea being that Germans are a harsh, brutal people and this is reflected in their language. Well, you dont have to speak German to be struck by how nice it sounds and this was particularly noticeable when Pope Benedict visited the UK. His soft, Bavarian accent was just beautiful,- both when he spoke German and when he spoke English.
