Those who have even one spark of ambition will think in an envious - TopicsExpress

Those who have even one spark of ambition will think in an envious way of all those brilliant physicists, architects and astronomers who had direct involvement in the creation of new spacecrafts and new telescopes. I’ve been moaning for days about not being among these great men and women. This thought wouldn’t even cross my mind, I wouldn’t worry one bit about it if I would be a ten year old girl or a tit sucking baby or an eighty five year old matron. But I’m a thirty three year old man in my prime mental faculties, and those aforementioned scientists are more or less the same age (add another ten years or so). What can I console myself with? The only consolation that I’m getting are those lead articles of a selection of newspapers and the scientists declarations explaining that all these achievements are in fact the glorious achievements of humankind. I guess you can count me in then, as I’m one of the humble and laborious members of humankind. Right, right -I’m saying to myself, not entirely satisfied with this scenario yet - I’m a member of humankind, thus party to the glory, but is that it? My personal role - zip, zilch, nada. Only that I’m human? Don’t worry mate - I’m saying to myself - you have done everything you could about space exploration. Your very important task was not to be a hindrance for the work of those researchers, scientists, and youve done them great service by not annoying them with your complete illiteracy and your ridiculous and erroneous calculations. And if for some stubborn reason you would’ve sneaked in the tight knit circle of the creators of spacecrafts you only would’ve ruined the cause of astronautics. But you haven’t done this, and your disciplined behavior has proved itself to be useful. With this sober and crystal clear logic I have insured my personal role in several past glories of humankind. And this soothes me. I’m almost proud of myself, for not having disturbed the work of Galileo, or that I haven’t persuaded Christopher Columbus to sail off in some other direction, and when Einstein gathered himself to work on his theory of relativity I didn’t lure him away to play chess instead. The way the total harmony of driving and braking forces insure the movement of spaceships, this is how active and passive factors insure the evolution of humankind. My humble persona belongs in the passive group, but as such I have stood my ground as firmly as possible. So. Thus it is still more relevant and important for me to be a part of humankind, that same one that is party to the creation of the wonder of spaceships. I must confess, that I would be even happier if I would’ve personally screwed in a bolt in any part of the Atlas V, and I would gladly acknowledge that this has been yet another great achievement of humankind.
