Though I have been on Facebook for several years now, I am still not accustomed to its etiquette, or rather, lack thereof. If I am engaged in a conversation, especially one of any significance or depth and the other party just vanishes, I find myself feeling first a bit foolish and then a bit -- taken -- for just sitting there waiting for that person to come respond when it becomes eventually apparent to me that "Elvis has left the building" and I evidently was not important enough to notify. This is quite perplexing. How hard is it to type, "gtg !" ? Or "brb" ? At least either of those shows me that vacancy has taken place and the other party may or may not return to our conversation. Otherwise, I sit, like an obedient dog, until it dawns on me that I am alone. Am I really this unimportant ?
