Though Im In PDP, I Must Confirm Aregbesola Has Performed In Osun -Says Ex-Gov Kalu *Someone Not Fit To Be Councillor Is Forcing Himself To Be Governorship Candidate Of A Party The former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu over the weekend concluded that despite his leadership position in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he must be frank enough to admit that the Governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola deserves a second term in office. He said the massive transformation of the state point to the fact that Aregbesola has performed beyond the ordinary, saying other states have a lot to emulate in the Osun initiatives. This was just as Aregbesola, in a veiled reference to a governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP said someone who was not good enough to win his ward in the last general election in the state is now forcing his way to become the candidate of the PDP. That party has failed. Aregbesola said. Orji, who expressed satisfaction with the massive crowd that followed the governor for the 7.9 kilometre road walk, pointed out that he being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not because of difference in political affiliation, not say the truth about the development he has seen in Osun. Commercial activities were temporarily brought to a halt as people in their thousands snaked through major towns of Ife North state constituency for the 15th edition of the fitness exercise of the State of Osun tagged Walk to Live. As early as 8 o clock in the morning residents and citizens trooped out from towns like Edun-abon, Moro, Yakooyo to join the convoy of the State Government led by Aregbesola in company with Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu. The fitness exercise climaxed at the Origbo community Unity school in Ipetumodu where indigens of the various towns joined officials of government and invitees to exercise and listen to addresses of the governor and well-wishers at the programme. Dr Kalu pointed out that he was drawn to Aregbesola for his sterling performance as the governor of Osun. He averred that what Aregbesola has done in lifting Osun from the level that he met was massive, saying such governor or individual needs the support of all and sundry irrespective of political differences. According to him, I am still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, but what I have heard and seen about your governor made me to come out in the open to support good work. Iyiola Omisore is a personal friend of mine, but I will always say the truth. Few days that I have spent here and the way his people talked about him truly showed that governor Aregbesola deserves another term to complete that good work that the Lord has used him to start during his first term. He charged people of the state to discountenance insinuation that Aregbesola wants to Islamise Osun, saying politicians are only at work to use Aregbesolas strong faith in Islam to mislead people. I am a committed Catholic and am sure that Aregbesola will follow me to my church. Politicians should stop bringing religion into politics. The former governor stressed. Speaking earlier former PDP senator representing Ebonyi Central, Senator Emanuel Onwe commended governor Aregbesola for the developmental stride in Osun, stressing that Osun has become a reference point for good governance in Nigeria. In Onwes word, with what I have seen in Osun, I have come to the conclusion that the PDP has nothing to offer in this state. We are on a tour of South-West. This is a state where you can see true development, a state where the government is committed to the development of its state and his people. We will not because of our party divides not say the truth. We have seen ourselves since we arrived in Osun yesterday, we will go away from this place to tell our friends in the PDP that their party lacks the capacity and antecedents to meet up with the performance of Aregbesola in Osun. We have friends in the PDP, we will tell them that, in Osun, from what we have seen, PDP is lacking.
