Thought For The Day: The new Affordable Healthcare Act has expanded Medicaid coverage in many states. This has already led to a rise in the number of emergency room visits due access to insurance coverage for complaints like headaches and stomach pain. Patient improvement/outcomes havent gone up with the increase in ER visits, only the cost to the public has risen. Was increasing the number of insured people the right answer? Or would educating on proper utilization of healthcare services and healthy living be more appropriate in driving DOWN the price of care?
