Thought I would post on the page fully so no-one misses it: Im secretary of SEC and here are some union rules in regards to founding a society and having exec members. Normally a society is started by one person or a small group and they divvy up the positions between then. If there were positions available afterwards during the first main meet-up/social an EGM would be held where people can run for the remaining positions (only paid members can run and vote). If you are having a problem deciding on positions then i would suggest holding an EGM for all the positions. I have read most of your posts (kind of a GOT fan myself) and many of you seem keen to hold an exec position, which is awesome, and so maybe an EGM is th best way to sort it? I hope that helps. Also, if you are having a vote you will need to do it EGM union style, not online. This is because there are a lot of rules to follow in regards to votes and most of them cant just happen online. So if you want GOTsoc to be a union recognized thing with all the perks that comes along with it you have to conduct important things like an EGM using our rules. Although having an exec position seems like a super important thing to being part of how to shape the soc it doesnt have to be. Why not all create the soc collectively and have a meeting during term to decide the exec? Any questions I will be happy to answer :)
