Thought for Thursday ~ Today is my 43rd wedding anniversary and - TopicsExpress

Thought for Thursday ~ Today is my 43rd wedding anniversary and I am praising God! I can hardly believe it has been that many years! When I say such things as “It’s funny…I always thought people who had been married 43 years were OLD!”, my humorous husband replies, “They ARE!” The old quote “Where has the time gone” has never seemed more relevant. It is certainly a time to look back and reflect on the last 43 years and remember why I am married to this wonderful man after all this time. The number one reason, of course, is the Lord. It is His strength, protection and provision that have given us these years and have gotten us through these years. That is a gift for which I am forever grateful. John and I, though not born again Christians when we married, arrived at that point along our path together. It was later that we truly and deliberately asked Jesus to become the Lord over our lives and accepted Him as our personal Savior. However, previous to that we did believe in Jesus, and we did attend church every Sunday, but sadly we did not always put God first in our lives. One of the things that John insisted on when we got engaged was that we attend church each Sunday, and I am grateful for his leadership in that. Over the years God became the central focus in our marriage. We learned to lean on Him during times of trial, as well as rejoice with Him during happy times, and there were many of both. It wasn’t always easy, but God was always there to support us and love us and show us how to love each other. Draw a triangle and write GOD at the top point. Then write your spouse’s name at the bottom left point and your name at the bottom right point. Picture you and your spouse each moving up your line of the triangle toward God at the top. You will see that the closer you each get to God, the closer you get to each other, as well. This is a great visual and a strong reminder of WHO is central in your marriage. My husband is the most faithful man I know. He is Godly, kind, generous, funny and loving. He is a man of strong integrity, honesty and commitment. He has provided for and cared for his family during good times and bad. I love him and appreciate him more each day and I am so grateful that the Lord gave him to me. Happy Anniversary, John! Just my thought for the day…. Have a blessed one! “Blessed are those whose strength is in You.” - Psalm 84:5 “The LORD God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.’ “ - Genesis 2:18
