Thought for Today - Faith or Fear - Part 6 When I was riding back home to the nursing facility, it suddenly struck me in the cab of my friends pickup truck with my mangled, broken chair in the back that I would have to use a manual push chair to get around until the power chair could be repaired. It wouldn’t be soon. Because I couldn’t use my arms that were uncontrollable to push the wheels, I knew that I had to push myself backwards with my good right foot. Still using my good right foot to push my chair backwards was awkward. I had to position my body sideways in the chair by slinging my left arm over the back of the chair leather pad so that I could see where I was going in the block long nursing home. From experience, nurses were usually too busy to push me from my room to the dining room. My friend saw that I was down cast. I hated feeling this way because I knew that the Lord spared my life from the tram accident. Yet, I was depressed about the thought of pushing myself backwards in a manual wheelchair. Not knowing what to say, he turned the radio on to a Christian station, where the announcer said, Romans 8:28 says, All things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. “ I looked across the cab at my friend smiling at me. He repeated the verse again and then asked if I knew what he was thinking. I nodded my head, Yes, although I didn’t know exactly what he had in mind. As I slowly shook off my daze of depression, all that I knew was that God was good. I definitely loved Him and knew that He had some mission for me on earth. This was my first revelation of this verse, as a fairly new Christian. Through the years of applying it in my life in good times and the bad, it has been my motto. I draw strength from it, especially in the bad times. I know for sure that eventually everything will work for good. You will be sure of this also, when applying it by faith.
