Thought for Today. This is really an extension of the Religious Thoughts series Ive been posting.... Was reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig last night. Been reading it for quite a while. Stimulates me to think.... Professor Pirsig made an illustration. Moses and Jesus were guides leading men through the Wilderness to the Mountain Top. But... they blazed the trail a long time ago.... And things have changed.... So... a NEW trail that isnt eroded needs to be blazed.... Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens and other Secular Humanists have made similar logical errors. If the message is really sincere, it should be modified to appeal to more people. It should be updated for the modern reader. The concept of god needs to evolve just as man has evolved.... I think they miss the point. God sent PRECISELY the message he meant to send. God doesnt need to change his message because God hasnt changed. Neither has man really. Man is still seeking his own way. To be his own god. Or to grab onto a god that he can control. Nothings really changed in that regard.... God loves ALL his Creation. God loves every human. But in order for God to be truly Glorified, he had to give man Free Will.... Lets face facts. Many men... maybe most men... abuse the privilege God gave us.... But... God isnt stupid.... He knew we would. Just like he knew that Lucifer would rebel. Doesnt mean God didnt love Lucifer. Doesnt mean God doesnt love ALL Mankind. Does mean God never expected that ALL Mankind would accept his free gift of Grace. He KNEW only few... a small fragment... a Remnant... would.... Jesus said that he knows his sheep by name. Thats personal. And his sheep know him and respond to his call. And... the rest... think the whole idea of obedient sheep is asinine to the extreme.... Water down the message... make it taste sweet as molasses... the asses still wont drink it.... Its not what they want.... They want something else.... Even in the desert.... You can lead an ass to water, but the living water is really just for the sheep.... Goats and asses sure seem a whole lot like the same stupid animal to me....
