Thought of the Day: Involved in too many things and not what you have been gifted to do? Perhaps one of the greatest frustrations and disappointments I have heard from precious saints is they wonder “why they are not more anointed.” It could be as simple as activating I Tim 4:14-15 - “Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.” Let’s break this down: Neglect the gift: How do we do that? • We are too busy doing other things • We are not using the gift/gifts given. Thus we are neglecting them. By not activating and using our gifts we are neglecting them. • JFB says – “by letting it lie unused” • Romans 12:6 - Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: Meditate: • Greek says “carefully consider/consider deeply” • How much time do we muse with the Lord about our gift and how, when and where are we to use it. • Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” • By meditating on the gift we’ve been given we assign value to it Give yourself to your gift/gifts • It says give yourself entirely, wholly • JRB “be fully absorbed” • Barnes “be in them” • Clarke “Occupy thyself wholly with them; make them not only thy chief but thy sole concern.” • VWS “to throw himself wholly into his ministry” The results – “that your progress may be evident to all.” • NLV – “people will see you are growing as a Christian” • NCV – “your progress may be seen by everyone.” • Perhaps most importantly you’ll see your value and your growth • You’ll feel fulfilled The Amplified says “Practice and cultivate and meditate upon these duties; throw yourself wholly into them [as your ministry], so that your progress may be evident to everybody” Involved in too many things and not what you have been gifted to do?
