Thought of the Day: Just be ready Yesterday Donna and I had the honor of attending the wedding of a friend. As much as we wanted to go we had just arrived home Saturday night from Florida and I am leaving for Romania Tuesday at 1:00PM and today I have so many errands to run. Donna kept on saying we need to go. It was one of those times when her words just pierced me over and over. Obviously she was carrying the heart of God. So off we went after church. It was an outside wedding can we say chilly and yes it started about thirty minutes late and yes it wasn’t one of those quick weddings. I’m thinking I know we were suppose to come but when the pastor pronounces them husband and wife we’ll say goodbye and head home. I am thinking we came to do what God wanted us to do and now we can leave. Then we were saying goodbye to the groom’s parents who we hadn’t seen in years and they said we want to talk with you later. Great we have to now stay. Ok flesh be quiet and see what God is up to. There is often that moment in time when we are with the decision between our Spirit and our flesh. Donna and I agree to stay. Now over the next three hours we stepped into the APPOINTED TIME! We are standing there leaning on a small table nibbling cheese and crackers when Donna sees this couple and see invites them over. We weren’t chatting but ten minutes when they discover we are Christians and the young lady as what I the difference between being Catholic and some other Christian religion. She and her husband were from China and they didn’t know about anything about faith in Christ. When she asked the question you could hear the depth of her sincerity and true desire to know. For the next two hours or so the Holy Spirit was so clearly present as we answered question after question. The more we shared the more her eyes puddle with tears. We spent time talking about how we hear God’s voice and how He has led us. They asked more and more questions. It was such an honor to be where God wanted us to be. The verse in 1 Peter 3:15 (CEV) says “Honor Christ and let him be the Lord of your life. Always be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about your hope.” We honor the Lord when we simply answer people why we have this hope in us. It was one of those moments when the Holy Spirit is so present. As it was time to listen to the MC we stopped talking and when he was finished the young woman says I feel changed and I know we have had a spiritual moment. I said to them that they had been recently talking about spiritual things. That there was this hunger inside of them to know more about Christianity/God. He said that was true to which I said that the Holy Spirit heard them talking and had appointed this time. He agreed she had tears in her eyes. I said “if you seek, you will find.” We said goodbye about 3 times. Each time with one of those very deep hugs. I then went to this family (not charismatic) and I prophesied to them. They were astonished. I said when I was leaving you agree with everything I said and you need to reflect on how a total stranger walks over to you and reveals your personalities in Christ, your gifting and God’s call for their entire family. The joy and bewilderment on their faces was priceless. Oh and they totally agreed to what the Lord said to them. We finally connected with the groom’s parents I prophesy to them and with their hearts leapt and the said you have no idea how much that means to us. W talked for better than an hour and it was time to go home. You see all that God is looking for is our be willingness and our being ready to be used. Often hat stands in our way is our flesh. Just be ready!
