Thought of the Day: Prepare for war Yesterday I was talking with a pastor and as we were talking we both were feeling uneasy. You know that sense that there is a stirring in the Spirit. I described it as “a disturbance in the force.” I hope that the reference to one of the Star War phrases doesn’t set anyone off. The point being is something is transpiring in the Spirit. War hasn’t begun but there is a sense we need to be on alert. I would rather be prepared or battle than be caught unprepared. In 1 Chronicles 20:1 it says “It happened in the spring of the year, at the time kings go out to battle.” Again in 2Sa 11:1 it says; “In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle.” Why did kings go to war in the spring? It was primarily utilizing the good weather. It is not very good strategy to go to war in the middle of winter. My sense is we need to prepare for war. It is better to be prepared than being unprepared. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 2:11 “for we are not ignorant of his devices; lest Satan should take advantage of us.” I want to encourage everyone to take a piece of paper and write down the devices Satan uses. Matthew 13:24 -25 “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.” Isaiah warns us about watchmen who sleep. Better being prepared is better than being asleep.
