Thoughts?: The unofficial report is that Active Duty military suicides dropped 22% in 2013 (I say unofficial because the info I have is from November). Lets say that is an accurate number. Do you think it shows success in the efforts made by the military when the year before Veteran suicides increased from 18/day to 22/day? With all the government cuts in the military and medical retirements I wonder if more service members are transitioning into civilian life, and that is why we see Active Duty suicides dropping and Veteran suicides on the rise. It is too early to say for sure, and statistics need to be gathered, but I see a correlation. While my hope is that efforts are effective to help service members, my concern is that its false hope. ~KB
