Thoughts from Chief Sjolander... Mothers make the world go round... Today is the day to make all the special people who are the Moms in your life know how much you love, respect, and need them. Not everyone who is a mom gives birth. Some are moms because they were in the right place at the right time. Like my mom... My moms name is Shirley and she came into my life when I was a young teen. We met because I was taken from my biological mother due to her poor choices. My siblings and I went to live with Shirley, her husband, and her kids. My siblings and I were separated a short time later, but we did the best we could. I think about my broken home life a lot, but always come back to the love and dedication of my new family. Shirley was there for my teen years ups and downs. First loves, bad grades, track meets, proms... You name it, she was there every step of the way. She stuck with me and I learned a lot from her and that is what makes her a mom in my book. She rode the good times and bad times right by my side and helped make me the person I am today. Shirley is not my foster mom, shes my mom and I cant thank her enough for opening her home and heart to me and all the other kids who came to roost there over the years.
