Thoughts on this: reading an article about how Samoan children should be caring and providing for their families needs (parents &siblings) at all times. Yes but to a certain extent I believe! I honestly dont understand how (& I know so many families that do this) the parents will try to milk every penny out of their children, and yes you did bring them up since birth but the moment you knew you were about to become a parent you also knew that he/she will become your responsibility until the end of your time and as a parent it is your duty to provide for them until theyve matured enough to look after themselves. I believe in giving back to your parents and loving them in return but to hear that we should give and give all that we have to them because if it wasnt for them we wouldnt be here thats bullshit! Even until know when some are married with their own families their parents still require money out of them knowing that they have a family of their own to feed and own bills to pay. Im thankful that my mother was and still is a strong woman, as a single mother of 2 at a young age she did it all on her own. Now that our family has expanded shes still working hard and never demands or expect money from me and my siblings. If anything we give out of the goodness of our hearts and I think that means so much more, in saying that I cant even remember the last time she asked me for money if anything its me thats still asking on the odd occasions. &thats because she feels that no matter how old I am she still has a duty to fulfill and thats to be a mother, helping me at my needs and I know when the time comes Ill return the favor not with money but with something thats more valuable that money can not buy. Fob parents need to stop relying on their children and start being a parent and stop thinking that just because they brought us into the world that we must dedicate our whole lives to them in return. Wake up! Seriously!
