Thousands of pounds worth of designer clothing have been snatched from a heavy goods lorry by thieves in a bold night-time raid. Hundreds of items of clothing from The North Face outdoor and sportswear brand were taken from the vehicle which was parked overnight in a layby on the A638 Great North Road at Adwick-le-Street. Now South Yorkshire Police are appealing for help in tracking down the thieves and anyone who has been offered the clothing over the past few days. The truck was targeted at around 4.30am last Thursday with clothing valued at just under £55,000, in various colours, including t-shirts, coats and hoodies taken by the raiders. PC Steve Barnes, from Doncaster CID, said: “I’m keen to hear from anyone who has been offered The North Face clothing in the last few days, or from anyone who has seen people trying to sell items similar to those pictured. “There appears to have been a degree of organisation to this crime and I’m sure offenders will be looking to profit from the stolen property.” Anyone with information about the lorry raid should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 88 of 23 January 2014. Alternatively people can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
