Three Make Gers Debuts NICKY LAW and Jon Daly make competitive debuts for Rangers this afternoon as they are selected as trialists to face Albion Rovers in the first round of the Ramsdens Cup. The pair are in a group of eight players who have agreed pre-contract agreements with the club which start subject to registration on September 1. But they are among only four of those who were with Scottish clubs last season and can therefore appear today in the game at Livingston’s Energy Assets Arena. Arnold Peralta, Steven Smith, Richard Foster and Bilel Mohsni are all ruled out for five more weeks due to playing elsewhere last term, although they can still turn out in friendlies. And due to a restriction which only permits Gers to field two non-contract players against Rovers, Law and Daly get the nod ahead of Cammy Bell and Nicky Clark were are therefore omitted. Indeed, there is only one change to the side from the one which started the 1-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday in midweek in the final warm-up game. Kyle McAusland drops to the bench, with Robbie Crawford coming in to take his place in midfield in the sole alteration. Crawford will operate on the right side of a three-pronged attacking midfield line, with Law and Lewis Macleod also deployed there. Daly is joined in attack by Andy Little, while Ian Black is the sitting midfielder in the 4-1-3-2 shape which worked so well in the summer. With Bell out of the pool, Scott Gallacher also plays his first meaningful game for Gers and Alan Smith is on the bench as the back-up keeper. Captain Lee McCulloch remains in defence and is joined there by Sebastien Faure, Emilson Cribari and vice-skipper Lee Wallace. A notable inclusion on the bench is David Templeton, who missed most of pre-season through injury, with Fraser Aird and Luca Gasparotto joining him there.
