Three Men Arrested For Involvement In Loansharking Activities #sgpolicearrest Police have arrested three men, aged 66, 41 and 17, for their suspected involvement in loansharking activities in two separate cases. In the first case, on 6 April 2014 at about 6.00pm, acting on information received, officers from Woodlands East Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) arrested a 66-year-old man in the vicinity of Woodlands Street 11 for assisting the loanshark syndicate to collect Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards and Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) to facilitate unlicensed moneylending businesses. Through follow up investigations on the first arrest, Police officers laid an ambush and arrested another suspect, a 41-year-old man, in the vicinity of Aljunied Road on 6 April 2014 at about 8.00pm. Preliminary investigations indicate that this suspect, a debtor-turned-runner, had similarly assisted the loanshark syndicate to collect ATM cards and PINs and used them to perform fund transactions related to unlicensed moneylending businesses. Seven ATM cards, a stack of ATM transaction receipts and three handphones were seized from both men in relation to the case. In the second case, on 7 April 2014 at about 1.45 pm, through follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrested a 17-year-old male suspect for assisting the unlicensed moneylender in their business by sourcing and recruiting potential harassers to commit loansharks harassment at borrowers’ units.
