Three new retail skills workshops for Moray businesses Business Gateway Moray is offering local retailers three new one-day training workshops in Elgin. Taking place in March and April, the one-day workshops are fully sponsored by Business Gateway, so are free for local businesses to attend. Each workshop is designed to help local businesses gain a competitive edge, maximise sales, and maintain a positive and sustainable financial position. The topics have been carefully selected by Business Gateway following feedback from clients and partners regarding local retail businesses’ needs. They will cover three main topics: Dealing With Difficulties – 6 March 2014. This interactive and participative workshop will help delegates know how to deal with any difficulties that might arise. It will look at identifying problems, analysing issues, making decisions, problem solving, and management. Dress Your Shop To Impress – 28 March 2014. This workshop will provide attendees with the information, tips and tools they need to help buy, price and display stock in a way that maximises sales. Detail Your Plan & Finances – 17 April 2014. The final session will assist delegates with their business and financial planning, which is crucial to running a successful business. The skills learned and the tools provided will greatly improve the running of attendees’ businesses and help them stay in a positive financial position. As well as gaining new knowledge about these topics, attendees will learn new skills, network with other local retailers, tap into the expertise of the course deliverers, and have a go at implementing their new learning. Craig Robertson, Senior Regional Development Officer for Moray, said: “The retail sector plays an important role within the local economy and has the ability to strengthen communities and provide much needed jobs. I hope Moray retailers will find these workshops a useful addition to their own ‘business toolkit’.” The workshops are delivered on behalf of Business Gateway by Highland Retail Academy, a National Skills Academy for Retail approved partner. The sessions are principally for shop owners, managers or supervisors looking to develop their retail expertise. Workshop places are limited.
