Three photos of our recent acquisition: Cessna O‐2A Skymaster, S/N 67-21395 - in DaNang, South Vietnam. The date is August 1, 1971 when Lt. Gary Beard and Lt. Tom “Ratso” Harnden flew their last combat mission and celebrated with champagne (Note: In the third picture, the cork from the champagne is caught in flight, heading towards the airplane). Some notes from Lt. Thomas L. Harndens logbook, on occasions when he flew #395 (the Museums O‐2A): 31 October, 1970 on a round robin to NKP (Nakhon Phanom, Thailand) from DaNang. 1.8 hours and 3.9 hours. 21 Nov. 1970 DaNang to NKP...2.0 hours. 18 Dec. 1970 Laos; destroyed one truck; one fire; 116 rounds of 37mm AAA shot at the FAC and the fighters. with Major Anthony Tony Syracusa. 12 Jan. 1971 Laos; 2.2 hours with Lt. David Grong 25 May 1971 Laos; 4.4 hours. 1 Aug. 1971 Laos; 4.5 hours with Lt. Gary Beard. Last combat mission.
