Three years ago, my good friend Wendy Daniels endured altitude sickness high in the Muerde Mountains in Costa Rica so I could see the most beautiful bird in the world, the resplendent quetzal. We didnt see one. One year ago today, Poor Rob Bennett also got altitude sickness in the Muerde Mountains, so I could see a quetzal. We got up at dawn, and...success! One of my biggest life mentors is 101 year old Elizabeth Le Geyt, aka the Bird Lady who wrote all those wonderful bird columns in the Ottawa Citizen. I was just a little teary eyed last night when I opened this Christmas gift from Rob. Elizabeth le Geyts new book, with a quetzal on the cover! Sigh. My 2014 is now officially complete!
