Three years ago, starting Jan. 1, 2012 was a really dark time for my family. John had just gotten laid off from his job, ended up having gall bladder surgery and we seriously werent sure what our future looked like. Ive said since then that in some ways it was a blessing because we finally decided to buckle down and face our finances. Money has always been a sore subject to discuss, and it was easier to just ignore than actually stick to a budget. So the spring of 2012 we started getting creative - couponing, selling some things on Ebay, taking photographs with Kandids by Kim and reading Dave Ramseys book - to tackle the elephant in the room that caused a lot of stress. Im so excited to say that tonight I officially paid off all credit card debt and my car will be paid off in 6 months! We still have a student loan and Johns car loan, but its a HUGE weight lifted. I never want us to have that burden again. I think this past Christmas was the first holiday that we didnt gain any debt from and it felt so good. Of course John keeps saying how we could get this or that now, but I just want to enjoy having some money actually in the bank instead of it leaving each pay check! Its a good day for my family!
