Here is the full press release and information from today`s announcement: Roster Team Henrique 14 Adam Henrique - A graduate of both Burford and Brantford Minor Hockey, now playing for the New Jersey Devils, he was the first rookie in NHL history to score two series clinching overtime goals in the same playoffs. 21 Kory Nagy - Played in the OHL, was drafted by the New Jersey Devils and has spent the last 4 years playing in the ECHL and the AHL. 15 Troy Crowder - Played in the NHL for the New Jersey Devils, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, and Vancouver Canucks. 44 Natha n Kohler - Graduate of Paris Minor Hockey & Brantford Minor Hockey and the first player to sign with our new JR. B hockey team, the Brantf ord 99ers. 25 Chad Spurr - Played Jr. A Hockey, Minor Pro Hockey and is currently the Captain of the Brantford Blast. 11 Greg Hickey - A graduate of Brantford Minor Hockey, he played his junior hockey with the Hamilton Red Wings, in 1975. He was drafted by the New York Rangers (NHL) and the Minnesota Fighting Saints (WHA). 18 Emma Woods - A Burford resident and Paris District High School graduate who has committed to the Quinnipiac University Bobcats women’s hockey team. 9 Matt Garbowsky - Played minor hockey in St. George and Brantford. Coaches Team Henrique: Walter Gretzky, Joe Stephan, Jeff McCormick Brantford, August 7, 2013 – Phil McColeman, Member of Parliament for Brant, was joined by players, volunteers and community partners this morning at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre to announce final game-day details for Hockey Night in Brantford 2013. McColeman unveiled the official game-day program along with the full star-studded roster of players set to hit the ice on August 14th for the charity game and hockey celebration. “The community has really embraced this event to the point that it has taken on a life of its own,” said McColeman. “With new partners constantly reaching out to get involved and give back to the community, we’ve been able to grow Hockey Night in Brantford in a very significant way to offer fans an evening as entertaining as it is unique.” Ticket-holders will enjoy another full program of hockey entertainment built on the success of last year’s inaugural Homecoming Game. Doors open at 5:00 pm offering fans an opportunity to participate in the RBC Shoot Out Challenge and view exciting hockey heritage displays courtesy of the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Zamboni Company. Kicking off the evening’s hockey action at 5:30 pm will be the Brant County Crushers who will play a pre-game demo showcasing local talent and the exciting sport of sledge hockey. Opening ceremonies commence at 6:45 with the official Hockey Night in Brantford 2013 puck drop scheduled for 7:00 pm. The game will feature two teams Captained by fan favourites Adam Henrique of the New Jersey Devils and Zac Dalpe of the Carolina Hurricanes in a battle for the Speaker’s Cup. Both teams are deep with talent and experience thanks to the participation of new and returning stars from the NHL, WHA, Jr. A, Collegiate and Women’s pro league hockey. And this year’s game will feature an injection of youth with a host of new players who are at the front-end of their pro hockey careers. Team Henrique will feature 2008 New Jersey Devils draft pick Kory Nagy, Brantford 99ers first ever draft pick Nathan Kohler, and goaltender Kevin Beech of the American and Central Hockey Leagues. Team Dalpe will aim to match that youthful star power thanks to the addition of emerging Nashville Predators star Nick Spaling. Spaling has tallied 52 points in 198 games with the Predators since being drafted in 2007. Joining the list of former NHLer’s that includes Greg Hickey, Pat Hickey, Dan Gratton Jay Wells and Paul MacKinnon is former NHL enforcer Troy Crowder, who spent 10 years with the Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils, Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks. Also joining Hockey Night in Brantford is Tom Fergus of who played 726 regular season NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks. Returning Members of Parliament include Justice Minister and Attorney General Peter MacKay, Rick Dykstra (MP – St. Catherines), Ben Lobb (MP – Huron Bruce), Patrick Brown (MP – Barrie), Gord Brown (MP – Leeds Grenville), James Rajotte (MP – Edmonton Southwest), and Dean Allison (MP – Niagara West Glanbrook) along with Brant MP and veteran goaltender Phil McColeman. Guiding team Henrique will be community ambassador and hockey-world icon Walter Gretzky. Brantford hockey enthusiast and former goaltender Stan Worosz will take the reigns as coach of Team Dalpe. The event will offer a post-game autograph session with Hockey Night in Brantford stars, and fans seeking to walk away with a signed piece of hockey memorabilia are in luck. Thanks to Official Puck Sponsor Lafarge Canada, every ticket-holder who attends the game will receive a free commemorative Hockey Night in Brantford 2013 puck. McColeman unveiled a full list of official event sponsors which includes Hockey Night in Brantford’s newest major partner, Patriot Forge. Patriot recently stepped up with a $10,000 contribution to support the Brant United Way. This year’s fundraising effort kicked off with an initial donation of $25,000 from title sponsor Walton International. Thanks to the generous contributions of community partners like Patriot Forge and Walton, this year’s game is expected to surpass last year’s fundraising total of $70,000. All proceeds from the charity game will go directly to support the Brant United Way and its member agencies. Tickets are on sale at ticketscene.ca at a price of $10 and $5 for seniors. Last year’s game saw a sell-out crowd at the Gretzky Centre and tickets are once again going fast.
