Through my career, I have met so many veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. While interviewing thousands of these men and women, I thought I understood and had a good picture of what they went through. After reading this article, I see I did not, nor could not understand. Somehow saying Thank you for your service seems patronizing now. Yet this is what I said. This is a very good read, and I am humbled, honored, and awestruck. I wish I could say more than thanks.
