Through my childhood there was vague mention of an Uncle on my Dads side that had been killed during WW II. I never did get much detail on what had happened and my Dad is long gone as is his other brother and family members. A year or so ago I tried one of those trial memberships on Ancenstry and was able to get some more detail on Uncle Raymond and what I found was scant but a bit heart breaking. He was a member of the Army Signal corps and was killed on March 5th 1942 in Hawaii. Now I cant find any enemy attacks on that date (though there were some reports of sighted Japanese planes in the area around that time) so it remains a mystery but I was able to find this..... findagrave/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=3795825 It really pains me to think this poor kid died in the service of his country so many years ago and is buried so far from home. So this Veterans Day, my thoughts are with Uncle Raymond H. Wallace. Thank you for your service, and you are not forgotten.
