Through the looking glass part two, a quick peek at Spicewood - TopicsExpress

Through the looking glass part two, a quick peek at Spicewood Vineyards Independence, 2010 vintage. This wine is a solid example of Bordeaux varietals thriving at high altitude, the Texas High Plains. The independence offers dynamic balance, good structure and an old world style that is appealing and is also very Texan. A brownish garnet hue with a slight rim variation stares back at you while plums, black cherries, baking spices and notes of oak tantalize the nose. The palate is chock full of red fruits and various spices, changing as they pass over the tongue. Dusty tannins and crisp/youthful acidity fill out the mouthfeel with a lingering finish. This wine reminds me very much of the Haut Medoc, Bordeaux, one of my favorite regions of the wine world. Great job Ron Yates on a brilliant bottle of wine!
