Thunderbolts Seize Win! By Bud Brewski Down by two runs in the last inning, with two outs and nobody on, the Thunderbolts staged an epic comeback, scoring six, to take a 15-11 win, over the Odd Sox, at the Laundromat. Pickles started the dramatic rally with a dribbler past the pitcher, which after an overthrow, left the plucky Swede on second base. Iron Man kept the pressure on with a single, to put runners on the corners. DUI stepped up and after a long at bat, worked a walk. With the bases loaded and two down, Everybody Loves Lutz sauntered to the plate, gave a tight lipped grin and then jumped on the first pitch for a double, to tie the game. With runners on second and third, Wild Thing was next. As the first pitch came in, the Captain thought better of swinging, but then changed his mind at the last minute, hacked at the ball and missed. Thing stepped out of the box to clear his head, stepped back in and took a ball. The third pitch was a charm and Thing sent it up the middle, off the pitchers glove, to drive in the two winning runs. Mad Dog put the icing on the cake with a deep home run to left. In the bottom of the seventh, Doctor K and the defense slammed the door shut, with the game ending on a fine running catch by Iron Man. The win propels the Thunderbolts into a commanding position atop the conference, with a record of 7-3. This victory was all about heart and spirit, which the T-Bolts have in spades. As the teams took the field to start the game, the first rain drops of the night fell. It was a good omen. The T-Bolts jumped out to their first inning lead, with Johnny Boom Boom doubling home Trouble, to make it 1-0. A heavy rain pelted the players for the next four innings, and the T-Bolts found themselves down, 7-2. As the storm eased, from out of the darkness, the Thunderbolts flickered to life. J Boom cracked his record setting three run ding-a-ling in the top of the 5th, and Mad Dog crushed three run shot to center, in the 6th. Over the next two innings, the Sox countered with four of their own, to set up a breathtaking finish and memorable comeback.
