Thunderstorms are expected to erupt to our northwest this afternoon and quickly spread east and southeast into our area late this afternoon. Current indications suggest the potential for damaging wind gusts, large hail and possibly a few tornadoes as the storms consolidate into a fast moving line by this evening. Most of the threat for severe weather should push east of our area around 11 pm. Before the storms arrive, hot and humid conditions are expected with afternoon temperatures in the low to mid 90s and heat index values of around 100! Revised prediction indicates storms could affect Coles County between 8-10 pm.
