Thursday 12th September Koala Room Update: Today outside the Koala room Henry, Toby and Bronte extended the sensory experience outside by adding cars to the tray pushing them through the sand, over the rocks and shells. Whilst inside Lachlan, Lylah and Zoe used cars and little people on the car table pushing them from one side to the other sharing them between each other. Possum Room Update: Leila took interest in the coloured cars. She drove them along the windows and window sills and laughed as a screeching sound echoed. Rihanna showed enjoyment in her play as she confidently completes the obstacle course, balancing along the beams and through the gaps of the ladder. Bilby Room Update: What fun in the sun today! This morning the Bilby children and the Platypus children worked together wonderfully! Braedyn, Blake and Tasman were helping the Platypus children make ‘Wombat stew’ The stew turned into making a beach and that turned into making a house! Shanay also had fun in the sand pit making “cupcakes”. Kiana and Megen worked together singing the words “munchy for lunchy”. Nicholas and Blake had a ball scooting around on the bikes. Platypus Room Update: Levi and Elizabeth constructed puzzles on the verandah during outdoor play this morning. They showed delight in their achievement of finding the matching space to place their puzzle pieces in the insert puzzle boards. Isabella engaged in some quiet time as she explored drawing shapes and lines with the textas. Kangaroo Room Update: With our summer program started we now go outside first thing in the mornings to beat the heat. This morning the children used their gross motor skills when using our hurdles. The children used their turn taking skills and social awareness when using this resource making sure they shared turns with their peers. Some of the children even decided to have a hurdle competition and each took turn competing, running up the grass then across each of the hurdles. This is a great exercise for the children’s gross motor skills and turn taking skills. Emu Room Update: This morning we had a visit from the Oral Health Centre here in Port Macquarie. They came and spoke to the children about good/bad foods for your teeth and what happens when you go to visit the dentist. The children were able to have a turn at brushing their teeth and dress up in the dentist costumes. We were also lucky enough to be able to keep some of those outfits here at the centre. Each child also got a goodie bag with pamphlets, a tooth brush, stickers and balloons.
