Thursday, October 9, 2014 Three pieces of love; all paper. I had to put them down, of course, to share this with you. Many of you know about such things. Others may have ‘felt with’ when friends or family shared them. One is on white paper. A large sheet is folded in order to make four pages. “I wanted four pages of pictures for Poppa,” he said. It’s all red on white. Swigglely lines, almost circles, that could be a square, a lightning bolt (I think) over there. The wrinkles make it all the better. He’s five now, but made this last year, about the time we finished the first big round of treatments. Our son has a small but solid safe. Think I may need to keep this—there. The next is vivid. On the front page, the printing is in blue (on white paper again.) “popu---carson,” this page says. The inside two pages excite: A vivid green fills the bottom third of piece of art. The strokes are like those of Monet—at least to my eyes. To the right there is a mountain. It’s bright orange, the use of color and spaces between make it shimmer. On the other side of the mountain, there seems to be a blue building. It actually ‘squares’ up to the ‘mountain.’ From the mountain there are either beams of light, or perhaps long thorns. Not sure. Two stick figures walk toward the mountain, blue bodies-- one with green clothes, the other with orange. If I asked six-year-old Carson (now seven) exactly what it was, I’m not sure what he would have said. I see it as ‘us’ moving toward the light and a safe place after treatments were done. He just made it to help.. Made it well and colorful and impressive. It goes in the safe too. Then the card on black paper. A three-sided orange plastic flower, I think, in the middle of the page. Three white pieces of plastic with red emanating from each appear in the upper left quarter of the front page. Stars? “COHGRLANS’ is written. He knows my treatments are complete as he makes the card, and wants to congratulate me with it. He’s pasted white paper on the black inside the card where he has written: “Congargalasohs Poppa. You made it. I love you. Love, Porter.” This needs ‘safe’ keeping too. I had a slow day physically yesterday. So in the afternoon, I said, “Well, at least do some house straightening (I’m more of a straightener than a cleaner—not a dirty type, but, well, you know…) So I found these neatly folded in a drawer we haven’t opened in a while. “I have to share those,” I thought immediately, and headed for the computer. Of course notes from our three grandsons might not have the spirit moving power these did for me that afternoon, but I’ll bet you have things similar in meaning and value. I actually walked to the trash bag with several things in my hand. But opening each piece I ran across these. Someone else will have to trash them when I’m gone. These are the kinds of things that belong in safes, but just now they’re in my ‘heart-safe.’ Bless you Griffin, Carson, and Porter, the Mom and Dad that brought you into the world, and the God that makes it all happen! “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Luke 12:34) Always love, always, Keith
