According to the only contemporary source she was killed by a christian mob after it was alleged that she exacerbated a conflict between two prominent figures in Alexandria: the governor Orestes and the Bishop of Alexandria. (side note: Unclear in this report is whether the mob used sea shells or ceramic shards to skin her alive)
