Time for the Sunday go to meet’n with Rev. Dark Mawson. Our souls are nourished by our loved ones, we feed upon the valuable life lessons and blessings they provide as we grow into human beings. Over time our hearts bleed for those we love as they depart our world and we stay behind. How do we critique the meaning of family? Do we say Grandparents, Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, Children, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, are all that defines us? They are blood and have helped shape our lives, and without a doubt a blessing one and all. Do we include friends with two legs, four legs, feathers, fur, fins and tails? Some of our closest family members, who stand by us in our time of need cannot speak a single word, but if you listen, they will tell you a story with their eyes, of love and devotion. Some family members have hooves like Fid my Sisters Horse, or paws and cold noses like our German Sheppard’s Kitty and Magnum, or claws and whiskers like Kitty Girl, Kitty Boy and Midnight, some have long ears and cotton ball tails like Bunn-Bunn, Lucky Bunny, Ball and Oreo, while others have beaks and feathers, one with rosy red cheeks like Pepper Bird, then there are those with scales painted with brilliant colors who have no names at all but are soothing to watch. Those are some of the extended family we have had grace our lives, all have a personality unlike any other, they are unique, most have moved on, but their memories are living in our hearts. There is no price that can be paid for what we have gained from them. There comes a time when we must ante up, we have to pay the piper for receiving the benefits of family members during the good life. Death awaits and will take us all in its own time; it hurts to lose family no matter whom or what they are. It is during the pain, suffering, and grieving that we learn to recognize, family is not just blood skin and bone. Family is a feeling of acceptance, love and warmth that can come from anyplace and anyone, it persists in the thick and thin of good times and bad, with an abundance of love and loyalty. We mourn the loss of loved ones as we celebrate all that they have shared with us during their lifetimes. It is the one thing that builds character into our human quality, and hopefully we become better people for this. I believe that Death is not the end, it is just a change of scenery for the soul. Some struggle to accept fate while others move into the light of another day refreshed. Stand by those who fail to understand, loss is gain. An Outreached hand and a smile can guide the heartbroken to a better healthier place. Those who survive carry the message, that family is a relative term. Put on your bunny slippers and thong, remember those who love you unconditionally, love those who need it most, that will be your legacy . Pass the plate and fill it with warm heartfelt hugs for all who accept us as family. Amen
