Time for this months three songs of epic - TopicsExpress

Time for this months three songs of epic freakoutitude-edness... 3) Rein in Blood by Vader. Totally love the original by Slayer but Vaders cover just makes it more rough, intense, and aggressive... which is exactly what you want to be when listening to it. 2) The Violation by FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, try to not run through 19 walls while listening to this auditorial bombardment... seriously, you cant, so dont listen to it while in your home... 1) Combustion by Meshuggah, this is one of the most driving and awesomely straight forward songs from one of my favorite bands. I get almost giddy listening to it, heres a link of the bass cover of it and I honestly cant help but just completely headbang/bounce around at the 0:48 point...https://youtube/watch?v=YvhZ2UB92iE On a separate point, I want to do a slight rant. I recently heard and watched the music video for the new Slipknot song, The Devil in I. I was a pretty big Slipknot fan when I was younger and still remain entertained by some of their songs as I evolved over time into liking more solidly metal groups. While I do like this song, its pretty un-metal, to me this is far more of a stone sour song than a slipknot song. Corey Taylors voice is great as usual but its not the aggressive or dark character of a metal band or even a Slipknot classic (depending on whether you even consider Slipknot metal or not). My biggest problem is that Slipknot and many people who dont understand metal seem to associate metal with horror. While this song is very radio friendly, the video is honestly disturbing and really tries hard to look Heavy by being gross or disturbing. THATS NOT WHAT MAKES METAL! The three above listed songs are metal, the devil in I is not metal, and its not any more metal because its video has a guy being pecked apart by crows or another guy eating his own hand or a guy hanging himself.
