Time to revisit this item - No Parking Fire Lane signs do apply for all. If you are not sure if it applies to you, please read this poster :) . We have observed and experienced cars parked in these lanes or other non-designated parking areas, especially at Taft and Whitin Schools, and McCloskey Middle School in the front circle. One such incident did involve a delayed response to the soccer field behind Whitin as a car had parked in a non-designated spot which prohibited apparatus from getting to the back of the school. The school department has been asked to spruce up the signage/painting of fire lanes at the schools this summer. A review of the fire lanes was done by the Fire Department and the schools will clearly mark them. Fair warning - the Police Dept has been monitoring these areas, and we will continue to ask them to, especially as schools re-open for the school year. We thank you in advance for your cooperation with this important designation to facilitate emergency response to buildings.
