Tina wrote: How do you enjoy studying? Do you really want to create a better study environment? Well, where do you think is probably the best place to get educated? Nowhere than Boston! Right now, I’m going to demonstrate why it is a great choice for me and for you. These are also the reasons why I choose Boston to be my school home. First of all, it is about Boston. It is the 24th largest city in the whole country and the largest one in Massachusetts with the population of approximately 600,000 people, located in the Far East of United States. Boston is one of 11 U.S. global cities and ranked the Gamma World City by the Globalization and World Cities Study Group & Network. More than 18 million people come visit Boston each year. I have been in Boston 3 times. First time was when I was still in my mom’s belly, second was when I was 4 years old. These first times didn’t leave me any memory. The third time was 2 years ago and I started loving this city. My first impression on Boston is the view. It is too much different than where I live. The streets are wider, organised and clean with many trees and beautiful flowers. The houses there are also different. Most of them are built by wood, always have garden outside. The traffic there surprised me. The transportations stop to wait for people to cross the streets which ive never seen in my country. People like to travel by bus or subway. Very rare motobike is seen on the street. Overall, in my mind, Boston is a wonderful place on Earth. The second reason is because of the education. Can’t deny the fact that Boston is a great place fills with knowledge. The best university, Harvard, is located there, and so are many more awesome schools, where contain all the qualities that it takes to get the best result in studying. Boston is also home to the first U.S.A. public school and the first North American continent library. Actually, our family’s plan is to send me to Boston for studying after I graduate from high school. But then we realized that after grade 12 is too late and I might not be able to catch up educational requirement in Boston, so we move the time to 2014, after I finish grade 8. My mom said that I should go as soon as possible, because the learning program in Boston is always more strict than in Vietnam. So it’s a brilliant idea to go sooner and I will have 4 years of high school to prepare for university. My target is to get a scholarship after 2 years studying on US and then can be qualified for a good university. I know that for a foreigner like me, it’s much more complicated than the students in Boston. It will be super difficult and take double the work to achieve what I want. Even though the program is stressful but I believe that if I try my best and with some effort and hard work, I will not be left behind. To begin my learning journey, I would start with making my goals like always get high marks, or getting result as high as someone smart in the class,… And I would work extra hard to achieve my goals. My mom said that foreigners always study harder when they are in another country, because they always have in mind that this is not like home and they have not much support around but must rely on their own efforts. In class I would listen to the lessons and ask for help when I don’t understand something. At home there are my cousins to help me and at school there are teachers. After school, instead of going home, I think it’s a good idea to go to the library to do my homework and do more research and reading. I also aim to shorten my high school time by taking more courses, doing extra program as much as I can. After graduating high school, I want to go to a musical university to learn more about music because my dream career when I grow up is to be a professional singer. But sadly, my parents donot support me to follow this path of life as they dont believe I have singing skill. To achieve this dream, I need to have a good voice, which I will need to take class and practice on my own, create my singing style and most importantly, I need to love music, and I do. On the other hand, if I can’t be a singer, then maybe I’ll follow my dad and mom to be an accountant. Thirdly, Boston is where my relatives live, my grandparents, my aunts and uncles, and most excitingly, my lovely cousins live in this nice country. It’s always better to stay with your family (second family) rather than going study in somewhere far from home completely alone. You or your parents won’t have to worry about bad things that you have to deal with yourself. You always have someone who could help you. Life is easier. My cousins, 2 girls 2 boys, are like my siblings or my best friends ever. They are my second closest people to me in the big family, so I am really looking forward to “moving” to Boston to meet them, and I hope they are excited to see me, too. My grandparents are the ones who encourages me the most to go and learn in Boston. My grandpa said that he will retire immediately when I come and voluntary to drive me to school every day and grandma said she would cook home food for me to bring to school. Really heart touching. This made the already-excited-me even more excited. So with the help of my eldest cousin, grandpa organizes the plan and finds the perfect school for me before my dad could speak. Last but not least, it’s all about my decision. I want to go to Boston. What do you think about a new life style in somewhere far? Awesome isn’t it? I could live independently without my parents reminding me every single stuff. This is a chance for me to improve my living style. I must do things faster. I need to learn to make my own decision and take full responsibility for any of my action. This is my life. And Boston is a great place to start.
