Tinashe Nengomashe was unknown in South African football until 2002/2003 season when he joined Kaizer Chiefs. Some South Africa newspapers went on to label him as a foreign flop. In season 2003/2004 the Harare born midfielder guided Amakhosi to the PSL title and became the PSL Footballer of the Year’, ‘Player’s Player of the Season, he was also the winner of Kick Off Magazine’s ‘Soccer Player of the Season’ Tinashe is well known for his ball distribution and ability to marshal the midfield. He made unforgettable partnerships with players like John ‘Shoes’ Mosheu, Thabo ‘Tsiki-Tsiki’ Mooki, and Jabu ‘shuffle’ Pule. He appeared 324 times for Glamour Boys. After 2011/2012 season, Nengomashas talks of a new contract with Kaizer Chiefs failed to succeed and he then signed for Bidvest Wits on a 3-year deal. Last season under Clive Barker, the 31-year-old midfielder was 27 times in the starting team, and stayed on the bench once. This season, he was 4 times in the starting team as Gavin Hunt prefers to use Papy Faty in a defensive midfield position, paring him with either Matthew Pattison or the newly signed Jabulani Shongwe with Sibusiso Vilakazi in front of them. In the meantime, Nengomashe has to bide his time and wait for an opportunity to prove himself again. Is this the End of the Zimbabwean midfield maestro?
