Tips to avoid freezing pipes: - Keep your thermostat above 55. Yes, 55 is way above freezing but remember that 55 in your living room may translate into almost freezing in the far off corner of your basement where the pipes come in. So keep the temperature to at least 55 to minimize the possibility of out of sight pipes freezing. - Slow faucets and lack of water pressure are signs that somewhere there is a frozen pipe. If you notice this, call us right away and well help you take care of it before they burst, causing even bigger problems. - Insulate around pipes near outside calls and very cold areas to help keep them just a bit warmer. - If you have a sump pump, make sure the drain isnt covered with ice or snow (sump pumps drain to the outside). Otherwise things can get backed up causing freezing. - If it gets super cold then leave faucets running at a trickle, especially at night when temperatures are coldest. Yes youll use more water but still way less than the cost of replacing burst pipes.
