Tis Derby morning and the sun is shining so I expect no change in the ground from last night. I only run the three today and unfortunately dont have a runner in the big race. If Dermot and Roger Varian pull out their two then the race is a benefit for Coolmore again. In saying that Kingston Hill is owned by Paul Smith (son of Derek). This means of the seven declared, five are owned by the same group of people. Only for them the race would be dead in the water! We run two in the Paddy Power Scurry over 6f, a race we won last year with Burn the Boats who runs again today. Hes not straightforward to train and I would be lying if I told you I was coming into the race with any degree of confidence. Greek Canyon is in the grip of the handicapper and hes finding life difficult at present on the race course. The positive for both mine is that they have ok draws 13 and 17, as high numbers are favoured here. If either run in the money I will be delighted. Colin and Emmet ride. My main event of the day is the Gr2 Railway Stks and I run Cappella Sansevero here. Its not ideal to run back so quick after Ascot but three others are trying it also and Id be sick if I hadnt tried. My lad seems very well and has a great attitude for the job. Peter Chapple Hyam is talking his chances up and you can never disregard Aidans runners. On bare form we have a favourites chance and I feel if he runs to form then he should win. Colin rides. Last nights runners are fine this morning and I was happy with them all bar Third Dimension. Whether Im running him over the wrong trip or he needs softer ground Im not sure or it could be a case of him being a tad ungenuine. Either way hes proving to be a major disappointment for the moment. Ive seen the RTE piece that goes out on tonights programme and its ok! Dont think Ill be getting my actors card just yet! HGD
