Tis the season to be grateful; tis what I’m grateful for: To my Mother, the greatest woman I have ever met. For preparing me for life beyond home, for foreshadowing events in my life without giving me every detail so that I could learn and grow up on my own (as lessons are best learned first-hand). For always providing fresh sheets, comfortable pillows, clean clothes, hot meals, safe car rides, the meaning of working for a company for 17 and ½ years, peas, blueberries, and asparagus, and lastly – for not leaving me high-and-dry, as nobody else in the world could have dealt with such a terrible child as you did. You put up with me when I deliberately put NERDS in the carpet, and then proceeded to rub them deep into the carpet, well knowing that you could never get them out. Recently, you’ve been my solace in the brightest and darkest of times; I have and will always count on our chat sessions. You kept and continually keep me up to-date on shows, life, and the on-goings of our family. That, above all other reasons, is more important than all other things combined. I love you, Mama!
