Title track from new Red Beat album. https://youtube/watch?v=q4J9Ye5VIcQ Previously unreleased version with new vocal and synth texture. The Wheel looks at how we can use now to shape the future. Digital release on Nov.10th 2014. London based four piece band, Red Beat, developed a fusion between hard tribal rock and dub reggae. The line up at this time was Chris Thompson on bass, Kevin Mann on guitar, Paul Jones on drums and Roy Jones on vocals. This recording was restored from the vaults and reworked by Roy into a version perhaps influenced by the vocal style of Karen Wheeler of Soul2Soul, Afrodiziac fame who Roy toured America with in 1987 as a keyboard player with Howard Jones. The lyrics too have been altered from the 1980 originals, which some will remember from the Jon Peel radio session from Red Beat. The dark and depressive take of that time has been moderated in the light of the fact that the impass in the troubles in Northern Ireland has been overcome through courageous dialogue between the opposing sides and the Good Friday agreement, showing how positive action in the present can change things and create a brighter future. Here are the new lyrics: The Wheel In this city Take picture Where were you? Ten years ago? Northern Ireland is a warning Sound of laughter The sound of guns The Wheel is turning The Wheel is turning Around Cause and effect The wheel is ever turning Yesterdays sunset Is tomorrows sunrise Cant change the past But we can shape the future Now is all we have Lets choose the right direction The Wheel is turning The Wheel is turning Around Take a picture In this city What will you achieve? Today? Northern Ireland is a lesson We can build a peace Based on dialogue and trust (Lets come together) The Wheel is turning The Wheel is turning Around
